Approximately 3,000 volunteers and 7,000 artisans helped with the completion. Since December 2007 the temple is registered in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest Hindu temple in the world in terms of area. Unfortunately, it is not allowed to take pictures on the area <\/strong>. The security control at the entrance is really very strict: cameras, mobile phones, handbags, food &#038; drinks etc. &#8211; everything has to be handed in and stored in lockers. The entrance is at least completely free &#8211; also for foreign tourists.<\/p>\n<p>The Akshardham Temple itself is very elaborately designed and shows traditional representations of Indian and Hindu culture. On the grounds you will find a large garden, water constructions and some outbuildings. As an attraction for the visitors there are boat trips, water-light concerts, an IMAX cinema, a museum &#038; cultural centre and a food court. This has a little bit of a leisure park. We were especially impressed by the very detailed and real looking elephants on the base of the temple. The current daily temperatures of more than 40 degrees and more really bother us, so that we took a taxi back to the hotel after about 1.5 hours.
