By comparison, Lake Constance is just 14 km wide! Here we drove through the individual side arms and got to know the native flora and fauna. The Amazon is the region with the largest biodiversity on earth, so we were a little disappointed that we hardly saw any animals apart from a few birds and a gecko. This was probably due to the fact that there is currently low water. In the high season (when the area is completely flooded) it would probably be much easier to see the many animals, because then you can then get much deeper into the regular forest by boat or canoe
