The highest elevation is Mitre Peak (Bishop&#8217;s Hat) with 1,692 meters. The Milford Sound area is one of the wettest areas on earth. Up to 8000 mm of precipitation falls here each year. By comparison, berlin has a good 500 mm of precipitation over the same period.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!1m18!1m12!1m3!1d116261.58053516175!2d167.88892640772724!3d-44.61796914136619!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0xa9d5e04dba4b49e1%3A0x2a00ef86ab64de00!2sMilford%20Sound!5e1!3m2!1sde!2sde!4v1579198304314!5m2!1sde!2sde\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:0;\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"the-prices-of-the-boat-tours\"><\/span>The prices of the boat tours<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Since most tourist buses don&#8217;t arrive in Milford Sound until about 11am, we decided to go on <strong>an early tour at 9am.<\/strong> On the one hand, you can escape the crowds of tourists, and on the other hand, the prices are also much cheaper in the morning. The later the tour, the more expensive it becomes. By comparison, a summer tour costs 9 a.m. incl. Breakfast around $60. The tour at 11 a.m. will cost you as much as 80 p.m., and at 3:15 p.m. it will cost a whopping NZD of NZD 96. <\/p>\n<p>In the port terminal there are several providers for the tours. In the end, everyone has the same route and differs only in small things. We chose Southern <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southerndiscoveries.co.nz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" class=\"extern matomo_link wpel-icon-right\">Discoveries,<span class=\"wpel-icon wpel-image wpel-icon-3\"><\/span><\/a> which offers a free breakfast on the ship during the 9am trip.<\/p>\n<div class=\"zitat\">As a tip: You can save a little with coupons during the tours. in the tourist information in New Zealand you will find many brochures, in which you can find information about the individual sights of the country, but also one or the other coupon. For example, we discovered <strong>a 15 discount coupon for Southern Discoveries,<\/strong> which we were able to redeem directly on site.<\/div>\n<div id=\"jig1\" class=\"justified-image-grid That&#8217;s perhaps a little bit of a disadvantage of such an early tour. Although the light is best for photographing in the morning, much of it is still in the complete shadow of the mountains at this time.<\/p>\n<div id=\"jig2\" class=\"justified-image-grid On an upstream rock we could see <strong>a few sea lions,<\/strong> which had made themselves comfortable in the morning sun. We started our trip on the North Island in the city of Auckland, we experienced the tremendous underground forces in Wai-O-Tapu and Orakei Korako, we explored the capital Wellington, drove across the New Zealand Alps, did a glacier hike on the Fox Glacier, before we finished with a trip through the UNESCO World Heritage Site Milford Sound.
