With a short walk you can easily reach the most important sights of the town. Directly opposite the Nordpier &#8211; our pier &#8211; is <strong>Wilhelminaplatz<\/strong>, where there was just a weekly market, as well as the adjacent Protestant church. Between the whole market stalls it was teeming with AIDA tourists who have diligently bought souvenirs or tried local specialities. There is also a monument at the harbour commemoreto the fallen of the Second World War, as well as the bright yellow Fort Oranje, a 19th-century Caribbean fortification. In the middle of it is a lighthouse surrounded by some old cannons. <\/p>\n<p>If you walk back towards the city, you pass <strong>the government building,<\/strong> which was built in 1837. It is still used by the government and is the governor&#8217;s office. The colourful, historic houses of the city centre along the main street Kaya Grandi come from the end of the 18. to the beginning of the 19th century. Here you will find many souvenir shops, shops, boutiques and caf\u00e9s. On the outskirts of the city centre there is also the beautiful Catholic church of St. Bernardus &#8211; also in bright yellow-orange. <\/p>\n<div id=\"jig1\" class=\"justified-image-grid
