So we wanted to look for a higher point, from which you have a great view of the harbour and the city. Built in the 17th century, <strong>Fort George<\/strong> is predestined for this. It is located directly behind the harbour terminal above the Sendall Tunnel on a small hill, which can be easily climbed by stairs. At the Sally Port entrance gate there is a small cashier&#8217;s cottage, where <strong>2 US dollars per person<\/strong> is charged as an entrance fee. A slant in the large courtyard leads to the upper area, where there are still well-preserved cannons, which seem to be still fully functional and are fired on special occasions. Unfortunately, the fortress is not in <strong>a beautiful condition.<\/strong> Many buildings have disintegrated and have not been built; Construction debris lies around. But what is very nice up here is the great view: on the one hand on the cruise ships in the harbour and on the other hand on the Wharf Road with the inland port Carenage.<\/p>\n<div id=\"jig2\" Ivan was a particularly powerful hurricane in September 2004, killing 39 people in Grenada and damaging 85 of the island&#8217;s buildings before swirling further through the Caribbean. In the city we looked at two more churches and later ran back to the ship via a <strong>small street market.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"jig3\" class=\"justified-image-grid
