The Dominican Republic is a Caribbean state on the island of Hispaniola with a population of about 10.8 million. Two thirds of the island of Hispaniola belong to the Dominican Republic and one third to Haiti. The country is especially known for its beautiful beaches, the many holiday resorts and the fantastic golf courses. The landscape is forested and mountainous with fertile valleys and plains. One of the landmarks of the capital Santo Domingo is the 500 year old gothic cathedral in the Spanish colonial quarter Zona.

We spend 9 days in September in the Dominican Republic to enjoy the sun and the caribbean beaches. For this we have chosen the Catalonia Bavaro Beach, Golf & Casino Resort – a beautiful all-inclusive hotel on the east coast of the country in Punta Cana.
