8.5 million people live in Switzerland. The largest cities are Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Bern, Lausanne, Winterthur and Lucerne. Switzerland borders Germany in the north, Austria and Liechtenstein in the east, Italy in the south and France in the west. 70 percent of the country is made up of mountains, 208 of which are over 3,000 metres high and 24 over 4,000 metres. The highest peak is the Dufourspitze at 4,634 metres. The Swiss flag is one of the 2 national flags in the world that are square, together with the Vatican flag.
On our way back from the ROBINSON Club in the Maldives we made a short layover in Zurich, because the stopover on the way to Frankfurt was really very good.
