Travel Reports » Czech Republic

The Czech Republic has about 10.6 million inhabitants and is a landlocked country in Central Europe bordering Germany, Poland, Slovakia and Austria. The capital and largest city of the country is Prague. It is crossed by the Vltava River, which is the longest river in the Czech Republic with a length of 430 km. The Czech borders are characterized by a mountainous landscape: In the northwest are the Ore Mountains and Bohemian Switzerland; in the southwest is the Bohemian Forest. On the border with Poland are the Sudeten Mountains – this is also the location of the highest mountain in the Czech Republic, the Schneekoppe (1,603 m). The interior of the country is flat or only slightly hilly. In the northwest the Elbe flows, which has its source in the Czech Republic and flows in an arc to Germany.
