Today was a beautiful day with bright blue skies. And since our flight from Beijing to Hanoi did not leave until the afternoon, we had enough time in the morning to visit the Forbidden City.

The People’s Republic of China (which translates as “Middle Kingdom”) is the world’s most populous state with about 1.4 billion inhabitants. Thus, more people live in China alone than in North America, Europe and Russia combined. The longest river in China is the Yangtze Kiang at around 6400 kilometres and the highest mountain is Mount Everest at 8848 metres, which is on the border with Nepal.
