Bratislava was completely new to both of us, because we were not both here before – neither together nor separately from each other. So we were very excited about what the city is like and what sights we would expect here.

Slovakia has about 5.5 million inhabitants and is a landlocked country in Central Europe, bordering on the Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, Hungary and Austria. The capital and largest city of the country is Bratislava. Two-thirds of Slovakia consists of mountains and has a considerable share of the Carpathian Mountains. In the west, the country extends to the part of the Vienna Basin north of the Danube, while the south and southeast up to the Danube are characterised by foothills of the Pannonian Plain. The highest peak in Slovakia is the Gerlsdorf Peak with a height of 2,655 metres.
