Since our plane does not return to Germany until 4.55 p.m. this afternoon, we still had enough time to explore the sea fortress Suomenlinna.

Finland has about 5.5 million inhabitants and is located in Northern Europe, with one third of the country north of the Arctic Circle. Finland is one of the least populated countries in Europe, with the majority of the population living in the southern part. The capital is Helsinki and other major cities are Espoo, Tampere, Vantaa and Turku. About 10% of the country’s surface consists of larger and smaller lakes, which is why Finland is often called the “Land of a Thousand Lakes”. The country is also known for its northern lights, the midnight sun, the Finnish sauna and a lot of untouched nature.

Since October 3rd was a monday as a public holiday this year, the first weekend in October was predestined for a city trip. Since we liked Stockholm so much, this time we decided on a combined trip Helsinki & Tallinn.
