We explored the city of Tallinn as part of a day trip starting from the city of Helsinki. Due to the short distance of these two capitals and the good connections by ferries and even air connections, it is a great opportunity to combine these two cities on a sightseeing trip. Ferry Terminal D is just a 15-minute walk from Tallinn’s Old Town.

The Republic of Estonia is the northernmost and smallest of the three Baltic States and is situated on the Baltic Sea. The country, which used to belong to the Soviet Union, has about 1.4 million inhabitants. The capital is Tallinn, whose beautiful and well-preserved old town was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The varied landscape of Estonia with its wide Baltic Sea beaches, over 2000 islands, wild birch forests and lakes and the numerous castles, churches and hill forts are also worth a visit.
