Taiwan, which is officially called the Republic of China, is a state in East Asia with a population of about 24 million. The island lies off the Chinese mainland in the Pacific Ocean. There are regular diplomatic tensions between the People’s Republic of China and Taiwan, as China considers the island of Taiwan as a “breakaway province”. The culture in Taiwan is mainly Chinese, but also has influences from Japan and the USA. The prevailing contrasts between the modern glass facades and the old residential buildings, the street markets to be found everywhere, the friendliness of the people and the very good infrastructure make travelling for tourists worthwhile and easy.
Taipei – Chiang Kai-shek & Sun-Yat-sen Memorial Hall (Taiwan)
Today we wanted to take a closer look at the two most important memory halls and thus also two of the most famous sights in Taipei: the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
