Zurich – The design hotel 25hours Langstrasse (Switzerland)

Categories: Travel reports, Europe, Switzerland

On our way back from the ROBINSON Club in the Maldives we made a short layover in Zurich, because the stopover on the way to Frankfurt was really very good. We didn’t know the city yet, so the holiday on May 1st was very convenient for us to hang another day of vacation behind.

The location of 25hours hotels in Zurich

25hours has 2 hotels in Zurich: the 25hours Hotel Zürich West and the 25hours Hotel Zürich Langstrasse . Both hotels are relatively central in the city centre, although the slightly newer hotel in the Langstrasse where we were is a little better located. From Zurich Airport, it is only a 10-minute train ride before you arrive at Zurich Central Station. We got 24-hour tickets straight away because we will no longer be in town. This was also the best option in terms of price. From the main train station we walked ten minutes to the 25hours Hotel in Langstrasse. We were really very excited about how the hotel is furnished, because the 25hours hotel usually represents a very stylish interior design. And we were not disappointed! 🙂

The 25hours Hotel Zürich Langstrasse

When you enter the hotel and want to check in at the reception, you think that you are in the middle of a flea market. This should also be the case, because if you look at the wall, there is a large neon illuminated sign with the inscription Rental House. This means that you can pay for your stay here with art or rubbish that you no longer need. These things are actually taken into payment here and then exhibited in the hotel. Of course, we don’t know how often this is actually done, but it’s a totally funny idea and turns the lobby into an antique flea market with display cases where the rarities are on display.

It is actually the case that you are slightly overwhelmed when you are on the ground floor. Because there is something new to discover and marvel at at every corner. For example, a small shop called Kein & Aber – based on the name of a Zurich publishing house. You can buy books from the publishing house here, but also things for the daily needs and bags of the label FREITAG. By the way, they also hang from the ceiling in the entrance area and give a very funny picture. On the ground floor there is also the Cinchona Bar, a cosy living room with DJ desk and library, where guests can be accommodated at any time of the day or evening.

Our room on the 7th floor

The 25hours Langstrasse is a hotel where we felt very comfortable from the beginning and which really thrilled us! There is an incredible amount to discover, as each room is furnished with a lot of attention to detail.

After we liked the ground floor so much, we were now looking forward to our room. We had a category L room on the 7th floor, which is equipped with an open bathroom with rain shower, a large comfortable king-size bed and a seating lounge with a small table right by the window. The room, like the 169 other rooms in the hotel, is very tastefully and individually decorated with different design elements. An absolute feel-good room on 25 sqm with a view of the Europaallee district and the railway line (which, by the way, you did not hear, due to the very well insulated windows). Of course, there was also very good and free Wi-Fi.

Breakfast in the restaurant NENI

For us, a great, extensive breakfastis always part of a hotel stay. And you can definitely get that at 25hours Zurich, at NENI – the hotel’s own restaurant. The kitchen offers a colourful mix of different nationalities in the eveningand attracts many guests. The morning breakfast buffet is very lovingly prepared and really leaves nothing to be desired. Happy and with a full stomach we were able to start our city walk well strengthened afterwards.

Other facilities at the hotel

On the 7th floor, where our room was located, is the Trainspotting Sauna & Gym – a small but fine spa area & gym with a great roof terrace from which you can watch train traffic in and out of Zurich Central Station. Drinks and fresh fruit are available here for free for the wellness enthusiasts.

There is also a large lounge on the first floor to linger, workstations with Apple computers and various slot machines.

The 25hours is an official partner of MINI and therefore the hotels provide the MINI fleet free of charge for city expeditions. How cool is that? Unfortunately, our time was too short to try it out and Zurich is also more suitable for a walk, but we find the idea insanely good. Just like the possibility to rent bicycles directly at the reception.

You have everything you need for a great stay in the city at the hotel. We are happy to come back 🙂
