Our river cruise with A-ROSA VIVA took us for 7 days from the metropolis of Paris along the Seine to the highlights of Normandy. Start of the trip is the city of love Paris, continue to charming provincial towns such as Les Andelys, an imposing cathedral in Caudebec-en-Caux, the port city of Rouen with countless half-timbered houses and an impressive light show in the evening, in the footsteps of Claude Monet in Vernon until it goes back to the multicultural metropolis of Paris. In between, the Seine winds between wide meadows and forests, apple orchards and castles.

Vernon was the last stop of our river cruise with A-ROSA before we went back to the starting point to the metropolis Of Paris. The small town is picturesquely located in the valley of the Seine, halfway between Rouen and Paris. In addition to visiting an imposing collegiate church and beautiful half-timbered houses in Vernon, we were following in the footsteps of a famous artist in the neighbouring village of Giverny.

The 2nd day of our river cruise with A-ROSA on the Seine took us further upstream to the small town of Caudebec-en-Caux, which is also the westernmost pier of the A-ROSA on the Seine. From here to the mouth of the Atlantic, it is only about 50 kilometres. Caudebec-en-Caux is a relatively small town with about 2,300 inhabitants. As with many communities in Normandy, the name derives from the Old Scandinavian language: Caldebec means ‘cold bach’.

After we had moved into our cabin on the A-ROSA VIVA at 2 p.m., we didn’t have much time until we dropped off at 9 p.m. But since today was really a beautiful Saturday afternoon with bright sunshine in Paris, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to at least go back to the city for a short time to take some nice photos of the Eiffel Tower and the Louve ☼
