Long Island – The swimming Pigs at Dove Cay (Bahamas)
Whether on Instagram, on Facebook or various travel sites – the pictures of the swimming pigs in the Bahamas are already unbelievably great and it was always a great wish for us to see them live. After we had already visited the “original pigs” on Big Major Cay on the Exumas a few days ago, we did not want to miss the chance to experience such a spectacle again: here on Long Island 🙂

You’ve certainly seen the pictures of the swimming pigs in the turquoise blue water, haven’t you? Don’t think we’re crazy now, but it’s these pigs that were one of the main reasons for us to fly to the Bahamas. Visiting the swimming pigs on Big Major Cay has been on our bucket list for so ooo long, so we just wanted to tackle it this year 🙂

Actually we were going to explore the island of Great Exuma by car. Since because of the Easter weekend and the Family Island Regatta all rental cars were unfortunately fully booked, we had to think about something else. After a short stopover in Nassau we went further south today – to the archipelago of the Exumas. We have been told by many that if you want to experience the “real Bahamas”, you have to travel to one of the many islands away from New Providence. After we had spent a very nice week in Mauritius in February, now our next holiday was coming up. We haven´t planed anything in advance – so we only booked our flights to Florida & the Bahamas only a week in advance 🙂
