Categories: Travel reports, Central America & the Caribbean, Belize

After our round trip over the Great Blue Hole we went back to the hotel, picked up our luggage and walked to the San Pedro Belize Water Taxi Terminal, which is located in the Tourism Village of Belize City.

By ferry from Belize City to San Pedro

At 1:30 p.m., our boat departed from the port in Belize City. With a short stopover in Caye Caulker we went on to San Pedro Town on Ambergris Caye, where we will spend the next 3 nights.

Arrival on the island of Ambergris Caye

San Pedro is a small town with about 13,000 inhabitants. There are only a few cars here. You can see mainly electric and gasoline-powered golf-karts/club cars.

Our hotel in San Pedro

In San Pedro we had booked a room at Pedro’s Hotel, which is only a 15 minute walk from the port.

We stayed two nights in the hostel and felt very comfortable. The room was on the second floor overlooking the pool. Everything was very clean and the staff were very nice. You could borrow dishes at the reception. The hostel also has a restaurant that offers delicious food at reasonable prices. The Jägermeister bottle collection is very impressive! There is a hostel dog. A very dear Golden Retriever, who picks up his petting units from time to time 🙂

A supermarket with a wide range of food options can be reached in a few minutes on foot. Prices are ok. Restaurants and cafés can also be found everywhere. The atmosphere in the small town is simply great. Small golf carts drive around everywhere – you rarely see normal cars. In a post about our Hotel Pedro’s Inn someone wrote on Tripadvisor that there are hunter masters, a lot of hunter masters. We didn’t quite know what he meant by that until we went to the small sports bar in the hotel in the evening. We found Jägermeister bottles here, on which there was still a 4-digit postcode and “Western Germany” on it.

After we checked in and parked our suitcases, we left right away, and strolled a bit through the streets and got some food.
