After our great experience with the floating pigs of Big Major Cay, our day tour with Coastline Adventures went even further. And it went for us again into the water, because it followed the experience with the famous nurse sharks of Compass Cay, with which you can swim here in the Bahamas.

Exumas – The swimming Pigs of Big Major Cay (Bahamas)
You’ve certainly seen the pictures of the swimming pigs in the turquoise blue water, haven’t you? Don’t think we’re crazy now, but it’s these pigs that were one of the main reasons for us to fly to the Bahamas. Visiting the swimming pigs on Big Major Cay has been on our bucket list for so ooo long, so we just wanted to tackle it this year π

After a short stopover in Nassau we went further south today – to the archipelago of the Exumas. We have been told by many that if you want to experience the “real Bahamas”, you have to travel to one of the many islands away from New Providence. From our Hotel Colony Club Inn & Suites we could easily reach downtown Nassau by public bus. The nearest bus stop was just a short walk from our hotel. Buses cost USD 1.50 each way and run at regular intervals.

After we swam with dolphins on the west coast this morning, our tour went on to the east coast of Mauritius. From here we went as part of the tour “Roman’s Eastcoastdream” with the speedboat en the coast to the island of Ile aux Cerfs and at the end there was again the opportunity to snorkel in the Blue Bay.

In the areas around Mauritius you can observe dolphins in their natural habitat and even swim and snorkel with them. We have swum with dolphins in Egypt before and even dived with dolphins on Curacao in the Caribbean, which were unbelievably great experiences. That’s why we really wanted to do it again here in Mauritius π
