January 1, 2015 – on to a new year! 🙂 After a late New Year’s breakfast at the hotel, we were greeted at noon with bombastic summer weather – sun, blue sky and 33 degrees. Rio de Janeiro is one of the few cities on our world tourthat we really wanted to see from above. That’s why we wanted to do a helicopter tour of the city today.

At the beginning of 2014 we had the wish to take a break from our long term jobs and go on a 6 month world trip. After long planning and preparation the adventure began for us on December 15th 2014 in Iceland and took us across the Caribbean to South America, Central America, Hawaii, Australia & New Zealand, the South Seas, on to Asia and finally to Africa. For the next 2 days we had to relax at the Copacabana, some shopping and the Free Walking Tour to see a little more from downtown Rio de Janeiro 🙂

During our travel planning we were told by many people that Sao Paulo is big, dirty and criminal and that there is nothing special to see there. In our opinion, the opposite is true: we are very positively surprised by Sao Paulo. Yes, the city is big, damn big even. But we found the city very modern, clean and with many beautiful places.
