Seeing flowing lava from very close has always been a dream of ours and was therefore at the top of our bucket list. And today was finally the day when this dream was to come true. Today, a Lava Hike in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park was on the agenda 🙂

Big Island – Arrival in Hilo & Akaka Falls State Park (USA)
Today we went to the second island of our Hawaii holiday. We were looking forward to Big Island, because on the largest Hawaiian island we had already planned some great activities. The official name of Big Island is ‘Hawai’i’, as is the name of the entire state and archipelago. But not to confuse the two, most people just talk about Big Island.

Today we wanted to hike along the Diamond Head Crater Trail, which is located in the middle of diamond head crater. From the summit you have a super beautiful view of Waikiki. We were already on our world tour on the crater in 2015 and we liked the view so much that we really wanted to do the hike again 🙂

Today we were already sitting at 8 o’clock in the morning in our rental car,because we wanted to climb the Koko Crater Railway Trail, which is located on the southeast side of the island of Oahu, just in the early hours of the morning. And since it gets very hot in the morning, we wanted to use the early morning hours so as not to sweat completely immediately after ten meters.

On our day tour through the Odenwald today, we first hiked the fairytale trail in the Obrunn Gorge in the morning and noon, looked at Fürstenau Castle, the Einhardsbasilica and the old town of Michelstadt and then walked a little through the alleys of the old town of Erbach. In the early afternoon we continued towards Lautertal to the rocky sea.

Sometimes you don’t have to travel far to discover something new 🙂 The occasion was a visit that awaited us at the weekend. Of course, one always wants to show its visitors something of the surroundings and since we live almost at the gates of the Odenwald, it was obvious to look at some attractions and sights of the Odenwald. After a week of Danube cruise with A-ROSA Bella we have arrived safely in Passau. A shuttle bus of the A-ROSA had driven us and other guests from the Danube pier, which was about 45 minutes from Passau, to the main station Passau. Since our train only went back to Frankfurt in the afternoon, we still had enough time to take a closer look at Passau.
