Beachcomber Island – Relax & snorkel in the South Sea (Fiji)

Categories: Travel reports, Oceania, Fiji

Today our island hopping continued in Fiji and we were taken around noon from our Hotel Coralview Resort on the island of Tavewa with a small tender boat to the pier of the Yasawa flyer in the lagoon.

Our ride with the Yasawa Flyer

In front of us was a four-hour drive along the Yasawa Islands to the Beachcomber Island Resort , where we had booked two nights. The Beachcomber is a small island (a really small island) in the Mamanuca island chain. From the ship’s point of view, we couldn’t even imagine where all the resort guests would find space. The sight of the island was fantastic – just as we had imagined Fiji.

The Beachcomber Island Resort

With a small tender boat we were picked up from our ferry and taken to the island together with a few other guests. On the small island you will not only find house guests, but there are also many day guests who have booked a trip from the mainland or from other resorts, arrive in the morning and leave in the afternoon.

We have here for a private room directly on the beach incl. full-board is paid about €100 per night. We thought it was a really fair price. We had a private room with sea views – the beach was just outside the door. Everything is very clean. The resort is on an island that is very small. In 7 min you walked all around once. This is where the real South Sea feeling comes up – a dream. The mandatory Meal Package costs 80 FJD per person and does not include drinks. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served buffet style. The food was great. Snorkeling on the house reef is great – colorful corals and a diverse underwater world. We’ve even seen sharks. Two free snorkelling trips are offered every day – this should definitely be taken into account. The food was also available here (unlike the Coralview Resort) in buffet form.

Relax & snorkel on Beachcomber Island

The next two days we spent mainly with snorkeling and sunbathing – life can be sooo beautiful. Beachcomber offers a free snorkeling trip to its own hotel reef twice a day. And there were really beautiful things to see every time: corals in different shapes and colors and a lively underwater world – even with small reef sharks. Behind the resort there is a small turtle breeding station.

In comparison, we liked the Beachcomber Resort much better than the Coralview Resort. The rooms were a bit more modern and beautiful, there were more activities, the food was more varied and the atmosphere was just great

All travelogues from Fiji

The island state of Fiji lies in the middle of the Pacific and consists of a total of 330 individual islands. To explore at least some different islands, we had planned a total of 12 days. After our arrival in Nadi we first spent some great days on the Yasawa Islands and Beachcomber Island before we went to the main islands Viti Levu on the Coral Coast for a few more days.
