We first came into contact with the topic of “diving” in 2013 at the Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort on Borneo. In the resort we did a Discover Scuba Dive for the first time in addition to the daily schoring… and equally seen turtles and an octopus up close. This fascinated us so much that we were determined: we want to make a PADI diving license! 🙂

The PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre
The Atmosphere Resorts Dive Shop is a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre at Hotel Atmosphere Resort & Spa. Here, all PADI courses and specialities are trained from the beginner (Discover Scuba Diving) to the first step in the professional league (Divemaster) and further to the instructor. The base has a small diving shop, a drying room for the equipment, personal storage spaces, a lounge area, a camera room with work areas for UW photographers and PC places for image post-processing, as well as a sanitary area with freshwater showers and toilets.
The Tugship of the Atmosphere Resort is called “Victoria” and is a 28 meter long boat in the style of the local Banka boats (outrigger). The numerous spots of Dauin and Apo Island are served by boat. The spots of Dauin and Apo-Island are a critter paradise and thus a dream for macro photographers. The average water temperature is between 27 and 29 degrees per year.
The PADI Open Water Diver
What we didn’t want is to do the practical exercises in some cold and murky dredging lake in Germany. If so, then it should also be a great diving area. Before we flew to the Philippines, we made it useful to have the theory for the PADI Open Water Diver at home and already done the online test on the padI pages. With that part of the theory part was already almost ticked off. We did the final OWD diving certificate and the practice exercises during our last days at the Dive Center of the Atmosphere Resort & Spa. After all the compulsory exercises we passed our diving certificate and are now PADI Open Water Diver 🙂
