In terms of area, Europe, together with Australia, is the smallest part of the country, but with more than 700 million inhabitants it is one of the more densely populated parts of the world. Europe, along with Asia, is the landmass of Eurasia. However, its culturally and historically independent development justifies its separation as a separate continent. The 10 largest cities in Europe are Istanbul, Moscow, London, Saint Petersburg, Berlin, Madrid, Kiev, Rome, Paris and Minsk.
