During our visit to LEGOLAND Deutschland and the newly opened PEPPA PIG Park, we spent two nights in the LEGOLAND Holiday Village right next to the park. There are many different and unusual accommodations in the vacation village, all of which are themed and equipped with numerous LEGO models. We opted for an overnight stay in the brand new Waldabenteuer Lodge, which is lovingly designed in a forest and lodge look.

The LEGOLAND Germany Resort
LEGOLAND Germany Resort is a leisure and theme park resort in Günzburg, Bavaria, between Augsburg and Ulm in the immediate vicinity of the A8 highway. The theme park is aimed at families with children aged 2 to 12 years and offers a variety of experiences in different areas, for which over 57 million Lego bricks have been used. With around 1.7 million visitors a year, LEGOLAND Günzburg is one of the best-known and most popular theme parks in Germany. Opened in 2002, the theme park offers exciting and fun experiences for adults and children with 68 attractions and roller coasters.
The LEGOLAND Holiday Village
Since June 2008, LEGOLAND Resort has also included the world’s first LEGOLAND Holiday Village with various accommodation options directly adjacent to the park. Whether you spend the night in the new forest adventure lodge, in the NINJAGO quarters, on a pirate island, in a knight’s and princess’ castle or in a camping barrel – all the accommodation is exceptional and designed with great attention to detail. A map of the vacation village can be downloaded here: Download LEGOLAND Holiday Village.
Reception
We arrived by car in the morning and went straight to the reception in the LEGOLAND Holiday Village. There are parking spaces in the immediate vicinity where you can park for the time of check-in. We received a friendly welcome in the reception building and the check-in went smoothly and very quickly. We had already received our room cards at that time, but could not get into our room until 3.30 pm. Incidentally, we received a small gift from HiPP Baby Service for our one-year-old daughter at check-in, including wet wipes, a squeeze bottle and a fruit slice. We thought that was very thoughtful.
Our tip: If you decide not to clean your room for the sake of the environment, the children will receive a LEGOLAND collector’s stone as a thank you.
The different types of accommodation in the Holiday Village
The LEGOLAND Holiday Village offers a variety of accommodation options to suit every taste. If you want to make your LEGO experience complete, stay overnight in one of the themed houses, the magnificent castle complex, the unique Pirate Island Hotel, the NINJAGO Quarter or the brand new Forest Adventure Lodge. The vacation village now has a capacity of 589 rooms and can accommodate over 3,000 overnight guests.
There are 120 themed houses on the site, each with two family rooms for 4 to 6 people. Here, visitors can look forward to lovingly decorated rooms in knight, adventurer, Egyptian and racing driver styles, as well as countless LEGO models.
The Pirate Island Hotel in the LEGOLAND Holiday Village is based on a pirate island and has 142 themed rooms in two building sections. Over 1,500 LEGO models can be found spread across the entire site and in the hotel. After your visit to the park, you can fortify yourself in the ‘Pirate Tavern & Smuggler Bar’ or let off steam in the huge playground.
The castle complex with the knight’s, king’s and dragon’s castle takes you back to the Middle Ages. In the lovingly themed 136 rooms, you can spend the night in a real knight’s world. The team of the restaurant ‘Zur Tafelrunde’ will take care of your physical well-being.
LEGO NINJAGO fans can look forward to 72 themed rooms in the NINJAGO Quarter, which will open in 2022. Everything here revolves around Master Wu, Lloyd and his friends.
The newly opened Waldabenteuer Lodge is located at the eastern end of the vacation village. 80 rooms are spread over three buildings and offer overnight guests a real forest and meadow world close to nature. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the LEGOLAND park entrance from here.
For the more adventurous, there is also the option of spending the night on the campsite or in camping barrels. If you are an outdoor fan, you can book one of 175 pitches at the campsite with your caravan, motorhome or tent. Two sanitary blocks with shower/WC and two sculleries, washing machines and dryers are available. The 14 rustic barrels in pirate style and the 25 barrels in LEGO wilderness look offer a special overnight experience. The camping barrels are designed for four people each and consist of a sleeping area and a living area that can be converted into a children’s sleeping area.
Forest Adventure Lodge
For two nights we stayed at the Waldabenteuer Lodge, which is located at the end of the resort grounds right next to the forest. It is the newest accommodation in the LEGOLAND Holiday Village and was opened in March 2024. There are numerous free parking spaces directly in front of the building. An elevator leads from the parking lot to the different levels of the building.
When we entered the room we had booked, we immediately felt at home. The color scheme, the various LEGO elements, the forest & meadow theme and the room layout are simply great for families. With the help of augmented reality, the forest and meadow world in the room can even be brought to life. The 28 m² room consists of a bathroom with WC/shower, a parents’ area with double bed, flatscreen TV and mini fridge as well as a separate bedroom for children with a bunk bed. At the head/foot end of the children’s beds there were even LEGO building boards and a box full of LEGO bricks to play with. Our two children took to them straight away. Totally cool, because you often only have a limited selection of your own toys with you when traveling. As we were staying on the first floor, our room had a lovely terrace with a view of the meadow and the large playground. This was perfect because it meant that our older daughter could go to the playground on her own from her room while we were still in the room.
For an additional fee of EUR 10, a baby crib is provided for the duration of your stay, including a changing mat, diaper pail and a small pack of HiPP wet wipes.
There is definitely a lot for children to discover in the room. The highlight was definitely the little treasure hunt. In the children’s sleeping area there was a safe in which a free LEGO treasure was hidden.
The code to open the safe had to be obtained by solving little puzzles in the room.
The safe then contained four LEGOLAND collectible bricks as a gift.
We have only ever seen a treasure hunt like this at the LEGOLAND Hotel Florida and have never seen anything like it at any other hotel.
A really great idea!
Playgrounds in the Holiday Village
We thought it was really cool that each hotel has its own themed adventure playgrounds. This means that the children can still let off steam after the park closes and enjoy climbing, swinging and sliding. The heart of the playground at the Pirate Hotel, for example, is an impressive, meter-long wooden pirate ship. In the Egyptian-themed houses, a pyramid slide is at the center of the playground and in the knight-themed houses, a castle complex.
Breakfast in “Hungry Bear” Restaurant
When booking a room in the Waldabenteuer Lodge, breakfast is included in the room rate. This is served in the “Hungry Bear” restaurant, which is just a few meters’ walk from the lodge. Breakfast is offered in two shifts: 7.30 to 8.45 a.m. or 9.15 to 10.30 a.m. The respective breakfast time can be selected at the time of booking or at the latest at check-in. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet at the ‘Hungriger Bär’. It is very large, varied and delicious. There is a large selection of bread rolls, pretzels and other pastries, cheese, sausage, sausages & bacon, egg dishes, fresh fruit and vegetables, yogurt, cakes, muesli & cereals – including a selection of gluten-free and lactose-free foods.
Dinner at “Hungry Bear” Restaurant
We also ate at the Hungry Bear in the evening after our visits to the park. Here you can eat à la carte between 5 and 10 pm. From schnitzel and crusty roast to vegetable dumplings and spaetzle, there is a varied selection here. The plus point is the playroom, which is well stocked with lots of LEGO DUPLO bricks.
The absolute highlight of the ‘Hungry Bear’ for the children was the automated service robot, which travels through the restaurant shining blue and waits for dirty dishes from guests to take them to the kitchen.
Pirate Golf
If you still have energy before or after your visit to LEGOLAND Park and are looking for a relaxing activity, you can let off steam on the ‘Pirate Golf’ mini golf course in the vacation village. It is located near the reception building and opposite the Pirate Island Hotel. The facility is open around the clock during the season and does not require registration.
Our tip: If you know before you arrive that you will be arriving later or will only be checking in after your visit to the park, you can book a free late check-in via the online booking form. Then the room is only available from 6 pm and you get a free round of pirate golf for the whole family!
