One of our absolute highlights in Florida is to swim with the Manatees in Crytal River. Manattes, or round-tailed sea cows, manatees or dugongs, are absolutely peaceful creatures that may look a bit weird, but are simply worth 🙂 Unfortunately, they are endangered species, and they enjoy special protection in Florida and it is forbidden to swim or interact with manatees almost everywhere. However, there is one place where swimming with the Manatees is officially allowed: Kings Bay on the east coast of Florida.
