We love to travel the USA. We like the country, the people, the nature, the cities, shopping and in general the incredible diversity of this continent. From deserts to swamps, huge mountain ranges, virgin forests, beautiful beaches, glaciers, cities with over a million inhabitants or lonely prairies – the USA is characterized by an incredible variety of landscapes. So far we have been together in New York, Washington, Philadelphia, Orlando, Miami, Denver, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Hawaii and have explored fascinating national parks like Yellowstone National Park, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Big Island Volcanoes National Park, Waimea Canyon, Napali Coast and of course the Everglades National Park in Florida.

Today we literally went to THE Hot Spot on Big Island: The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, which was founded in 1916. The park has been declared an International Biosphere Reserve and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Sitesince 1987. The 1,348 km2 area of the park includes extensive lava fields from various episodes and is home to the active volcanoes Kilauea and Mauna Loa.

Today we went to the second island of our Hawaii holiday. We were looking forward to Big Island, because on the largest Hawaiian island we had already planned some great activities. The official name of Big Island is ‘Hawai’i’, as is the name of the entire state and archipelago. But not to confuse the two, most people just talk about Big Island.

Today we wanted to hike along the Diamond Head Crater Trail, which is located in the middle of diamond head crater. From the summit you have a super beautiful view of Waikiki. Today we were already sitting at 8 o’clock in the morning in our rental car,because we wanted to climb the Koko Crater Railway Trail, which is located on the southeast side of the island of Oahu, just in the early hours of the morning. And since it gets very hot in the morning, we wanted to use the early morning hours so as not to sweat completely immediately after ten meters.
