Salt Lake City – Tourist Attractions, Things to Do & Photo spots (USA)

Kategorien: Reiseblog, North America, United States, Utah

Today we went from Bryce Canyon National Park to Salt Lake City. It took us a good 4 hours for the 430 km long route.

Salt

The Bridal Veil Waterfall

On the way is near the town of Provo still the Bridal Veil waterfall (Google Maps). When we arrived in Salt Lake City in the early afternoon, we moved into our hotel room at Shilo Inns Suites (now called Holiday Inn Express Salt Lake City Downtown) and then wanted to explore the city.

What to see in Downtown Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City, with a population of 180,000, is relatively manageable, although it is also the largest city in the state of Utah. The city was founded by Mormons in 1847 and is still considered the center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Temple Square, which is located in the middle of the city, is therefore also the most visited attraction in Utah – especially by religious tourists. We didn’t even know that there is a religious tourism – again what we learned 😉

The most important building in Temple Square is the Salt Lake Temple, the most famous and largest Mormon temple. All around, the square is surrounded by office buildings. After that we walked to the City-Creek Center, strolled a bit through the shops and ate something.

The Utah State Capitol & Council Hall

The next day, we watched the Utah State Capitol, which is located on Capitol Hill on the edge of downtown. The bright white building is very impressive and worth seeing. Across the street, across the street, is Council Hall, which houses a small visitor centre.
